Introduction

Ahmad Al-Jabr is a Ph.D. researcher at KAUST. His Ph.D. work is currently focused on studying plasmonics and related physical phenomenon in highly-doped semiconductors and metal structures. He also applies his expertise in finite difference time domain (FDTD) theoretical simulation in understanding plasmonics effects in the structures, as well as designing practical plasmonic devices for eventual applications in photonic integrated circuits (PIC).

Previously gaining industrial experience while working as an electrical engineer until 2005, he continued to pursued a lecturing career at Jubail Industrial College, Saudi Arabia.

Ahmad received his M.Sc. and B.Sc. degrees in Electrical Engineering from King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, Saudi Arabia.

Research Interests

Ahmad is working in the field of solid state lighting. He is focused on Gallium Nitride white LEDs. Research is on fabrication of Monolithic WLEDs. The research includes modeling of QDs in Finite Difference Time-Domain (FDTD) and the use of MBE grown quantum dots to fabricate better WLEDs.
