Adel Najar
Postdoctoral Research Fellow
"Currently an Associate Professor at UAE University, United Arab Emerates. Previously, he was a Researcher at NTT, Japan"
Introduction
Prior to joining KAUST, Dr. Najar was a Research Scientist in Microelectronics at the Laboratory of Technologies for Nanophotonique-LETI-CEA at the Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission at Grenoble-France. During his time at the Commission, he fabricated an electro-optic modulator, based on field-effect modulation of plasmon waveguide modes in MOS geometry with the H. Atwater group from Caltech.
Previously, in 2007-2008, he was a postdoctoral fellow at IMEP- Institute of Technology (INP) MINATEC Grenoble and the Saint Gobain Research Company, where he joined the research group of Professor J. E. Broquin. During this year, he worked on optical waveguides on glasses by ion exchange with an aim of manufacturing GRIN lenses.
During his doctoral studies, Dr. Najar studied Porous Silicon doped with Erbium, Ytterbium to fabricate an optical amplifier at 1.5um. He has published several papers and patents.
Research Interests
Optical waveguides on glasses by ion exchange.
Fabricate an optical amplifier.
